Seven Tips For Avoiding Crime-Safety Tip Of The Week

Crime happens everywhere on the streets, at home and at work. So these tips are general in nature and are meant to help you raise your awareness.

1. Be alert and be aware of your surroundings at all times. The bad guys use distractions to their advantage.

2. When you walk, walk with a sense of confidence with your head held high.

3. Vary your routines and your routes. Predictability makes you a more likely target.

4. 90% of all home burglaries happen through unlocked doors and windows. So start locking your doors and windows at home and in your car.

5. You can avoid car theft by locking your doors and use an ant-theft device if you have one. Remove temptation but putting packages in the trunk and park in a well-lit place.

6. Be informed of what’s going on in your neighborhood. One of the best ways to do that is get involved with a neighborhood watch program.

7. Carry some self defense products such as a Pepper Spray with you at all times even in your car.

Follow these tips and you may avoid becoming a statistic.

Safety Tip Of The Week-Parking Lot Safety

Happy Friday! Time for the safety tip of the week.

Statistics show that an inordinate number of assaults and robberies occur in parking lots-specifically mall parking lots and grocery store parking lots. The reason for this may not seem obvious but there is a good reason. Sexual perverts and robbers who do these kinds of assaults prey on women who are distracted coming out of a grocery store or out of a mall.

How are they distracted? The easiest way is talking on a cell phone. People who talk on a cell phone are concentrating on the call they are making and are not paying attention to their surroundings, which is the cardinal sin of victims. Other ways that women are distracted is with her kids or talking to friends.

Predators look for these signs when they choose a victim.

Would you think to look around and underneath your vehicle before you get in? If you’re walking to your car in a darkened parking lot and someone approaches you from behind asking for anything what would you do?

Prevention is usually the best way to avoid a crime. Pay attention to your surroundings. Don’t talk to strangers. Go with a friend. If you feel the least little bit uncomfortable ask store security for an escort to your car.

And always carry the self defense product with you like a stun gun, pepper spray or personal alarm.

Check all of our Self Defense Products.
