Here is a spy camera that is perfect for outdoor or commercial applications. It is the “Xtreme Life” Electrical Box Spy Camera is. As you may know the “Xtreme Life” moniker designates a battery that can record up to 20 hours of video action on a single battery charge whereas most wireless spy cameras can only record up to four or five hours at the very most. This spy camera gives you a unique capability to record video in an outdoor situation where there is no electricity or cannot run wires.

It includes a 2 GB SD card but will support up to a 16 GB card for data storage. It also features wireless remote control operation. The video has a frame counter that enables easy retrieval of the video. The camera can record in low light. It uses a rechargeable 3.7 V lithium battery.

The motion activated Spotlight Spy Camera is an 80 LED spotlight that has a hidden camera and DVR inside. The motion activated spotlight can act as a deterrent to burglary. If someone does break into your house the hidden camera will catch them and the DVR will record it.

The camera has 120° viewing angle and 80 foot viewing range. The camera is a two megapixel color digital camera which produces excellent quality pictures. It has a motion detection recording range of 10 feet. All recorded video is date timestamped. Once the spotlight detects activity the light comes on and so does the DVR. It records on to an 8 GB SD card that can store roughly 5 hours of footage. Because it only records when there is motion in front of the camera that could be several days worth of activity. This camera is completely weatherproof too.

Home Burglary Spikes This Time Of Year

There was an article in the paper in Florida recently that talked about how at this time of year there’s a spike in break-ins of as much as 14 percent. Police are going door to door handing out flyers warning residents to be careful. You can read the whole story HERE.

Home Security-How Something As Simple As Security Lighting Can Make Your Home Safer

Statistics show that burglars have three enemies when it comes to breaking into your house. Time is the first one. The more time it takes to break into your house the more likely the burglar is to get caught. Consequently, the less he will pursue the burglary if it takes more than a few minutes.

Noise is the second one. If a burglar does break into your house and there is an alarm he will be startled by it and chances are he will leave. He doesn’t want the attention a loud security alarm will bring.

The third enemy of a burglar for burglary prevention is home lighting; either exterior lighting or interior lighting-preferably both. The bad guys always want to work under cover of darkness. Security lighting can be a great way to improve your home security and work towards burglary prevention.

When the bad guys see lights on inside a house, or lights randomly going on and off, they make the assumption that people are at home. So they move onto another target. There is a device called a programmable random timer that can randomly program up to 20 different lights and/or appliances such as a TV or radio giving the external appearance that someone is in the house.

Another popular device screws into any light socket and will automatically turn the light on if the ambient light goes below a certain level. Other devices for home lighting or security lighting include timers that will turn lights on when programmed.

But one of the most effective home security devices for exterior lighting is the Floodlight DVR. It is a powerful security light that is motion activated and completely weatherproof. It only goes on when someone goes in front of it. It has a 180° viewing range up to 33 feet away. When the light comes on, a DVR is activated and can record in color a 90° field of view. All images are recorded to an SD card for easy viewing. There is a feature that allows for the oldest video to be deleted so new video can be added. The floodlight DVR also has a microphone and two pre-recorded audio alarms and two alarms that are user recorded. The device has a complete wall mounting unit to make installation a snap.

Security lighting is a great way to improve your home security. Home lighting, especially exterior lighting, goes a long way to sending a message to the bad guys to pick on somebody else.

Last week there was what seemed like an unbelievable story in the news about a couple that rescued a dog and then a few hours later the dog saved a couple. Here is the WHOLE STORY in case you missed it.

It just happened to be a St. Bernard-my favorite breed of dog.

The burglar had cut the phone lines into the house and was getting ready to get into the house when all of a sudden the dog chased the burglar out of the yard. The couple only had the dog for a few hours before he turned the tables and rescued them from a home invasion that could have been ugly.

Story shows in real-life terms how effective having a dog can be to protect your home. A lot of people don’t want to be bothered with all the trouble dog ownership presents feeding, walking, cleaning up, etc. you know what I mean.
