This amazing video camera records both the inside and outside of your vehicle and the built-in GPS logs location, speed and direction all to an SD card that comes with the device. The dual camera records images in both interior and exterior of the car. The interior camera has four bright LEDs to record in low light situations. One of the amazing things to me is called the “G-shock sensor” that detects accidents and automatically records the previous 30 seconds leading up to impact even if the unit is not actively recording at the time. To see what the camera records record remove the SD card and play it in your PC.

It comes with all the materials you need to mount it to your windshield. It includes a small microphone to record audio in the interior of the car. A two GB SD card is included but the unit will support up to a 32 GB card.

Here’s an interesting story about a man who recently left a briefcase containing $5000 and valuable company documents inside a New York City cab. According to the article there are 13,000 cabs in New York City, so where do you start looking? Fortunately, he was able to locate the briefcase with the GPS system that was installed in all New York city cabs in 2007. And to boot, all the money was there thanks to an honest cabdriver.

GPS Finds Missing Seniors

Last week the Halifax “Star”, a newspaper in Nova Scotia, Canada, had a story about a pilot program the police department is using to track missing seniors who have dementia or Alzheimer’s. The program actually started because seniors frequently wander away from their care facilities. Recently one man wandered away and died from exposure from the elements.

Canadian authorities claim this is the first program of its type anywhere using GPS tracking systems to find missing seniors.

You can read the whole story HERE. The story went on to say if missing seniors are not found in the first 24 hours, the consequences can be deadly.

Alzheimer’s and dementia patients have a history of wandering away from their surroundings. This causes their caregivers great anxiety, so much so, that the police have to be called in to help find them.

It has been estimated that over 60% of all of these patients at one time or another will wander away. Now a new system out in California that is being put into play using a GPS device to track them should they wander away.

GPS: Small Tracking Devices-For Tracking People

More and more cars are being equipped with GPS systems. They are a good selling tool for automobile manufacturers. Almost all car rental agencies have cars that are equipped with GPS systems. And everyone is familiar with what the GPS system will do. First designed by the government years ago, it features satellites high overhead that pinpoint a location with the receiver on the ground. They have become so sophisticated in recent years that they can pinpoint a location to within a few feet.

But now there are GPS devices that have new uses. GPS devices have been used to track people like jail parolees for years. Tracking devices are used up in Canada, for example, to track people who are stealing cars. Recently one of the offenders cut off his bracelet and threw it out the window of a car he was driving and it landed in the back seat of another stolen car providing police with their location.

Naturalists and oceanographers have used GPS tracking device for years to track endangered species and whales to monitor their movements and habits with great success.

Nursing homes have started installing tracking devices, like mobile GPSs, on their Alzheimer’s patients in case they wander away. It has proven extremely effective. Of course they have to get permission, but a mobile GPS is a great way to track people.

In Santa Fe, New Mexico police officials were looking for a way to track people-specifically convicted burglars and repeat offenders.
