Most Popular Home Security Alarms

There are three things that burglars don’t really care for; lights, noise and time. They like to do their work in darkness so if you have outdoor security lighting they don’t like that. They like to get in and out of a home in five or 10 minutes so the more obstacles you can put in their way to slow that down the better off you are. And third thing is noise. That’s where burglar alarms come in.

And the most popular alarms are motion activated alarms that sound loud noises when the protected area is violated.

One of the most popular motion activated alarms is the Electronic Watchdog or better known as the barking dog alarm. It can protect an area up to 20 feet away through doors, glass and other obstacles because it uses radar wave technology. When movement is detected the sound of an angry barking dog starts

Law enforcement officials will tell you that one of the best deterrents against home burglary is a barking dog. I would never have a dog and neither would many millions of other people. So this is the next best thing to have the “bark without the bite.”

Alarm Scares Off Burglars

click for more info

There was a story in the Sacramento Bee last week about how a burglar alarm scared a burglar away. Police responded to the burglar alarm and found the man leaving the area with blood on his arm. The window of the house that he broke into was broken. So police put two and two together and questioned the man. He attempted to flee but was very unsuccessful.

We have a wide variety of burglar alarms that are all very effective. The most popular one, the most well-known one is the barking dog alarm, a.k.a. the Electronic Watchdog.

The Strobe Burglar Alarm seen above works very well too.

The big thing about home security is if you do anything at all to improve it, you are better off than not doing anything. So get going and get some home security products to beef up your home security.

Get A Barking Guard Dog-Safety Tip Of The Week

click for more info

Well, okay I know not all of you will go out and get a guard dog or even a dog that barks. It just isn’t going to happen. But the fact of the matter is that the sound of a barking dog is one of the best deterrents against home burglary or home invasion for that matter. If you don’t believe me just call your local police station and ask them.

They will tell you, without qualification, that the sound of a barking dog is the best deterrent against home burglary.

Home burglary happens in one out of six homes every year. Home burglary happens every 15 seconds. Do you really want to take your chances? Or do you want to be proactive and do something to protect your home?

Now the dilemma! You want to do something but don’t like dogs. And you’re not getting get one! I can relate to that.

How about getting one of the most effective home security products on the market-THE ELECTRONIC WATCHDOG?

Sometimes it is called the Barking Dog Alarm. When it is plugged in it protects an area in a one hundred degree triangle up to as much as 20 feet away. The electronic radar wave sense control “sees” through wood, cement, brick and glass. If an intruder enters that area the sound of an angry barking dog starts. The volume and radar sensitivity are both adjustable. It can be used in commercial applications too.

There is a remote control that allows you to arm or disarm the system as well as set off a panic alarm.

So get a barking dog-better yet, get the bark without the dog.

Voice Alert System-A Different Kind Of Home Security System

Click for more details

The voice alert system is a different kind of home security system called an “annunciator”because if there’s motion in a protected area it announces a pre-recorded message in the base unit located inside the home or business.

The system comes with one passive infrared transmitter that can protect a 40′ x 40′ area and transmit to a receiver 1000 feet away in open space and 300 feet away through walls. The system will support up to six of these transmitters.

For each zone in the Voice Alert System you record a separate message that can be 6 1/2 seconds long. When motion is detected in that area the message is played back inside the house on the base unit. The message could be “someone is in the pool area” or “someone is approaching in the driveway” just give you an idea of the possibilities. It is a very effective system that can be used for both home security and business security.

Home Security Tips-The Real Value Of Neighborhood Watch-Safety Tip Of The Week

Last week I attended some training for the neighborhood watch program where I am block Captain for my building. The lead trainer, who is a volunteer, talked a lot about home security issues in general safety issues affecting the city-namely the shortage of police officers in the current budget crisis.

He pointed out the importance of the neighborhood watch program, especially now with fewer police officers on the payroll. He told us that burglaries for example were up 10% in the city last year and so far this year were up 15%-one of the few areas of crime that’s on the increase.

We talked about some ideas that could be used to help improve your home security. Right at the top of the list were motion activated spotlights and security cameras. Our trainer told us that real security cameras can be expensive and that Fake Security Cameras were a viable alternative.

I found out that the local police department does training classes for both personal security and home security depending on availability of officers. They will even do a home safety audit.

He recommends keeping some Self Defense Products located around the house in case of a home invasion.

Home Security Tips: Get A Door/Window Alarm-Safety Tip Of The Week

We try to keep up with what’s going on in the news in our industry. We subscribe to Google alerts as one way of doing that. And every week as sure as I am sitting here, we get notifications of burglars who were scared away from a home by the sound of a loud alarm. To me that is proof positive that home alarms work.

For as little as $8.00 you can get a 110 db Door/Window Alarm that sounds when a door or window is opened. And believe me a 110 dB is plenty loud. It is loud enough to scare any burglar away and it is loud enough to be heard by neighbors up to a quarter of a mile away.

Police statistics show that the average value of goods taken in a home burglary is close to $1600 and another $1700 in damage done to the home. Why would you not think of protecting your home with the door/window alarm for eight bucks?

Home Security:Best Selling Home Security Products-The Top Five

Home security in the United States is a huge business and not just with security systems. Home security products are an effective way to improve home security without breaking the bank because they are generally less expensive than say a home security system. Security devices and home security alarms are among the most effective tools you can use to beef up your home security.

We got together with a few of our competitors and compared notes and these five products represent the best-selling home security products. This will give you an idea what other people are buying to help you make an intelligent choice about your own home security.

First is the “Super Doorstop Wedge Alarm.” It is a very simple product that wedges underneath a door and has an anti-slide pad so it won’t slip on the floor. The top of the wedge has a movement sensor which activates the unit. If it’s touched, a 125 dB alarm sounds-enough to scare anyone away. It is great for hotel rooms, dorm rooms, apartments or anywhere where security is a little bit on the shaky side. It is a great way to prevent an intruder from getting into your room.

Second is the “Driveway Patrol Wireless Alert.” It has a 400 foot range and is battery-operated. The transmitter is placed outside while the receiver is inside the house. It uses an infrared motion detection technology that can alert you when someone enters your driveway.

Believe it or not, the third most popular home security item is a thermometer key hider. Don’t fall for that old trick of hiding your spare key underneath your doormat. Everybody knows that one. This is a real working thermometer that has a secret, hidden compartment. You don’t ever need to be worried about being locked out of your home again. It mounts easily with two nails or screws for secure placement.

The fourth most popular item is a Fake Security Camera that, when motion is detected, sweeps back and forth with a flashing LED light. It is powered by three AA batteries. It is adjusts to almost any angle and is realistic enough to fool anyone.

And last in the top five is a two-car laser guided parking system that installs in minutes. It’s a wireless product. It has a sensor that automatically activates when a car enters the garage. No more guessing about where to park your car. The parking system emits a bright red laser beam into your dashboard pinpointing the exact spot where to stop. You can adjust it for one or two cars. It’s powered by an AC adapter. It is a great gift for seniors too.

The wireless alert Driveway Patrol is one of the most popular home security products sold in the United States.

Home Security: Burglary-Four Great Ways To Prevent It

It isn’t every day that you get inside information from burglars on home security tips. Recently a burglar who committed just over 70 burglaries got caught. He agreed to share some of his inside information with police in the hopes of protecting homeowners from burglaries. He did his work in England where the penalties for burglary are much more severe than in the United States.

We should note that he did this, not out of the goodness of his heart, but in exchange for a more lenient sentence.

He said that it’s just as easy to get into a house in England as it is anywhere. He never had to break into a house. 90% of all burglaries in the United States occur through unlocked doors and windows.

So here are his top four ways to prevent home burglary from the perspective of a professional burglar.

The first thing was if he saw a pebbled walkway in the front or the back of the house that he avoided that house because it made way too much noise. That’s something that I’ve never heard before but makes perfect sense.

Secondly, he told authorities that if a dog was in the house that he avoided the house at all costs. Even if there was a sign of a dog it was enough to spook him and his fellow burglars. Sometimes you don’t even need a dog. If you’re a homeowner you can get the electronic watchdog, which makes realistic, angry, barking dog sounds when someone approaches a protected area. It’s an inexpensive and less troublesome way of protecting your house than getting a real barking dog.

The third thing that he told police was a showstopper for him were security cameras outside the house. Even if it was Fake Security Cameras no one could really tell the difference. That was enough to make him pick another house.

And a fourth thing he said was an absolute deterrent for him in committing a home burglary were lights. Motion activated spotlights and lights that go on and off randomly inside the house are enough to scare anyone away. They cast shadows and give the impression that someone is at home-an absolute no-no for burglars.

With home burglary on the increase throughout the United States, isn’t it worthwhile to listen to these tips from a professional burglar and follow them? Who better to get some home burglary prevention tips from than a professional burglar?

Take a look at all of our Home Security Lighting. It is an inexpensive and effective way to protect your home from home burglary.
