Sabre Spitfire is the fastest deploying and most compact keychain pepper spray. It allows you to fire from the hip or even behind you if grabbed. It uses replaceable canisters that contains enough spray for burts of 6 to 8 feet firing in a cone spray pattern. It is really for close encounters of the worst kind.

Spitfire Pepper Spray has 2 million Scoville heat units and .67% of major capsaicinoids (MC) in a 10% oleoresin capsicum concentration. This is roughly 4 times stronger than the .18% MC’s used by law enforcement.

What separates the Spitfire from other brands is the unique design that allows for a natural firing position from the hip that makes it faster to use than any other pepper spray. And since it’s on a key ring it is available all the time.

It is also available in black and purple and has a refill canisters available.

Vehicle Safety “Checklist”-Safety Tip Of The Week

click for more details

A few weeks ago on the safety tip blog posting, I asked if anybody had some suggestions. I got a reply from Mark LeClair. Mark is a disabled Veteran after serving over 15 years in the Navy. Parachuting accidents shortened a very loved career in Naval Special Warfare.

Mark trains the Army full time on all firearms and systems on a weapons simulator and has trained over 78,000 soldiers (and others listed) in 6 years. His company is called “Smart Tactics”

He and his employees provide personal protection courses, custom courses, firearm lessons, advanced tactics and NRA Instructor certifications.

He offered us this “vehicle checklist” for personal safety courses that he teaches
:
“-Approach vehicle with door key in non-dominant hand

-Be aware of anyone loitering around your area

-Be watchful of anyone parked next to your car and still inside

-Enter through passenger side if nervous about someone parked next to your car and still inside

-Check the backseat

-Enter vehicle

-Close door and immediately lock it

-Start car

-Place in appropriate gear

-Then put on seatbelt

-Then worry about everything else

-Be aware using mirrors and have an escape plan

This has been quite effective and I added a video his website (www.smartweaponstactics.com), which provides a decent visual to those that do not understand how easy it is to be surprised.”

Thanks to Mark for allowing us to use his tips.

Check out his website (www.smartweaponstactics.com) he has some articles that are worth reading and you may even want his services as an instructor.

I would add one tip-carry a self defense utilty product like the Diablo Flashlight Stun Gun

Sexual Assault Prevention Tips-Safety Tip Of The Week

Believe it or not there are several things that women can do to be pro active in preventing sexual assaults and possibly rapes. Knowing how an attacker thinks can work to your advantage. Potential victims can learn from these facts and put a plan in place to be better prepared to fend off an assault.

THE LOCATION. The most common place for an assault is a grocery store parking lot. Attackers figure that a victim’ hands and minds are distracted and are easy prey. Knowing this can make you better prepared and more on guard to fend off an attacker.

THE TIME. The most common time for an attack is early morning. Think about it-there are less people around and thus less witnesses. Knowing this can put you on guard if you must be out and about in the early am.

THE LOOK. It is a fact that women with long hair specifically ponytails or braids that can easily be grabbed are more likely targets than women with short hair. It is just a fact! Attackers also look for women wearing loose fitting clothing.

THE FIGHT. It is also a fact that if ANY resistance is in the offing, most attackers move on quickly. They are expecting little or no resistance. When they encounter resistance it takes more time which increase the chances of discovery. So FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT.

THE CARRY. How you carry yourself makes an impression. If your head is up and you walk confidently and quickly you are less likely a target than someone with their head down and walking slowly-just a fact.

WHAT YOU CARRY. If you carry a Pepper Spray, taser, or stun gun and know how to use it not only will it give you a better sense of confidence but will also give you time to escape if you need to use it.

Learn from these facts about assaults and develop a plan to protect yourself.

Self Defense-The Value Of Practice For An Assault Situation-Safety Tip Of The Week

Everyone who has an important task to do, practices for it. From sports teams to children playing the piano from emergency responders to our armed forces. Practice, as the expression goes, makes for perfect. It is no different when it comes to protecting yourself and your loved ones.

Sometimes the difference in time in how you react to an assault situation can make the difference between life and death or at least severe trauma. If you react quickly it may confuse the assailant because he is not expecting any resistance usually.

Sue is walking to her car in a dark part of the parking lot. She hears footsteps behind her and is fearful. She reaches in her purse and pulls out her Small Fry pink stun gun. She flips the safety switch and presses the on button as she is turning around. By the time she has turned around to face the person he is 10 feet away but he sees the flying sparks and hears the intimidating sounds a charging stun gun can make. She yells “Back Off.” Fortunately for Sue he did.

The whole episode took 2 seconds but her fast reaction saved her from an uncertain fate.

She practiced using her stun gun until it became second nature. She did the same with her pepper spray. Fast reaction times make the difference and that only comes with PRACTICE.

This is the best place to get your Self Defense Products.

Self-Defense-Training DVD’s For Women

There are many ways for women to defend themselves. In the last five years or so self-defense products have become an integral part of self-defense for women. Items such as stun guns, pepper sprays and tasers are all very effective when it comes to self-defense. That’s why they’re so popular-they work and provide a non-lethal means of self-defense.

Self-defense products should only be part of a self-defense strategy. Learning some basic self-defense techniques must be the foundation of that strategy. A self-defense course is the best way to learn those techniques. And there are hundreds of instructors out there in your local city. You have no idea what their background is. And while they are all well-meaning and probably have your best interest at heart, does it make sense to learn potentially life-saving skills from a full-time barber who happens to know self-defense techniques?

Paul Vunak is one of the most highly regarded instructors of self-defense in the world. He teaches Navy SEALs, FBI, CIA and Police Department SWAT teams. His instructional DVD is one of the best fighting videos ever made especially for women

He teaches the eight basic tools of Jeet Kune Do, which has been defined as “The system works on the use of different ‘tools’ for different situations. These situations are broken down into ranges (Kicking, Punching, Trapping and Grappling), with techniques flowing smoothly between them. It is referred to as a style without style.”

Jeet Kune Do was developed by famous martial artist Bruce Lee who believed that a fight was a spontaneous event, and couldn’t be predicted-only reacted to. Consequently, he taught his students to move fluidly without hesitation “like water.”

In the DVD Vunak teaches these eight principles in a clear, concise, easy-to-learn way. They are specifically designed for people who have no previous fighting experience. It is the closest thing to an organized way to defend yourself in almost any situation that you might encounter in a street fight. It is highly effective for teaching women self-defense principles..

There is another instructional DVD specifically designed for women by Kimber Johnson. It is a one-hour self-defense course that teaches women how to defend themselves against predators and rape specifically. It has techniques to use against hair pulling, choking and being pinned down. It teaches real life scenarios on how to deal with drunks and how to determine the precursors of a real assault. It is based on her real life experience of being raped, despite her years of martial arts training.

The training DVD called Street Safeby Paul Vunak teaches the eight principles of Jeet Kune Do and is great for women.

The self-defense course Women’s Combat by Kimber Johnson is one of a few designed specifically for women.

Self Defense Tips For Women-Safety Tip Of The Week

Guys this is for you too. Read and share with the women in your lives.

Women are attacked by a margin of almost nine to one more than men. The reasons seem obvious. The ways to defend against these attacks are not always so obvious. Here are some tips on how to defend against attacks on women.

Let’s start with the more obvious.

1. DON’T LOOK LIKE A VICTIM. Let’s face it. Most guys who assault women are not all that smart but they are not stupid either. They have developed in their own mind a profile of what they are looking for in a victim. Someone who is walking with their head down and an uncertain gait presents an easy target.

2. USE COMMON SENSE. Everyone has choices on where they go and how they get there. Keep to well lit areas, go with a buddy, avoid dangerous areas and USE YOUR HEAD!

3. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. Women especially are blessed with an uncanny knack for sensing things. They should use and trust that instinct. When you get a shiver down your spine be ready to react.

4. GET A SURVIVOR MINDSET. This starts with developing an awareness of your surroundings and not becoming paranoid but aware of the facts that women are potential targets all their lives. Practice either for real with a friend or in your mind what you would do in an emergency. Practicing develops confidence which overcomes fear.

Remember this in an assault situation-your priorities are survival and escape. You owe it to yourself and your loved ones who rely on you to do everything you can to get away as quickly as you can and survive a possibly life threatening situation. You don’t get points for style.

Carry some Self Defense Products like stun guns and pepper sprays. Their purpose is to allow you time to escape. They will give you from 3-30 minutes to escape to get help or just escape and survive.

Safety Tip Of The Week-Self-Defense Tips For Women-Part One

It is well established fact that women are the targets of violence in nine out 10 cases-everything from assaults, rapes, domestic violence. Even in home invasions, women are the preferred targets.

So it makes sense for women to be more aware of that fact so they can learn how to defend themselves a little bit better. Here are some self-defense tips for women that may end up saving their lives. But guys, you should take a look at these too and pass them along to all the women in your life.

There a lot of tips to share so we split them up into several parts. Here is part one.

Develop a plan to improve your self defense. That includes dry runs on what you will do in case of an emergency.

Walk with a sense of self-confidence. Of course back it up with some self-defense training. Having a sense of self-confidence shows through.

Use restraint and common sense. Don’t get baited into a fight. It takes two to tango. It’s easier to walk away with your head on.

Keep to well lit areas and go with a friend. Avoid dangerous parts of town like the plague.

Once you learn self-defense skills, practice them until they become second nature. They will last you a lifetime but only a few practice them.

Develop a sense of awareness. Be aware of where you are and who is around you.

Never act like an easy target. Don’t look like a victim. Someone who is walking with her head down or talking on a cell phone makes for easy pickings for the bad guys.

Never hitchhike. Walk, take a taxi, use a bus but never hitchhike.

Don’t be paranoid. Just beware and aware that there are threats around you.

Always keep some Self Defense Products with you like a stun gun or a pepper spray or both-just in case.

Workplace Safety And Security-Safety Tip Of The Week

Good Morning Folks. It is Friday! Ready for a huge holiday weekend?

Many people mistakenly think that there’s safety in numbers and because you’re at work you are in a safe environment. The fact of the matter is that workplace safety and security is something that should be taken very seriously because threats are everywhere-even in the workplace.

You would think a hospital is a safe place when in fact hospitals represent a significant safety and security threat to the nurses and doctors who work there. Recently several hospitals have started allowing their personnel to carry pepper sprays and stun guns for personal safety and security.

The most severe threats to personnel are at night in poorly lit areas like parking lots and stairwells exiting office buildings. Criminals hang out in these areas because the targets that they seek are usually distracted by work considerations and are not paying attention.

–So be aware of your surroundings.
–Avoid stairwells-get your exercise some other way.
–Use the buddy system when walking to your car in a darkened parking lot. Go with a friend or ask someone with building security to accompany you.
–And the last suggestion, always carry a stun gun or pepper spray with you.

Check out our complete line of stun guns, pepper sprays and other Self Defense Products.

And don’t forget to give us your feedback on these posts. We want to hear your thoughts.

Have a great weekend-Happy Labor day!!

Tips On How To Use Stun Guns Safely And Properly

Stun guns are the second most popular self defense product in the world today right behind pepper sprays. Just about every police officer in the country carries some kind of stun device. Most law enforcement officers carry a taser, which is the form of the stun device, but it works differently. Tasers use low voltage and high wattage to disable an assailant. Stun guns are high voltage and low wattage.

Today we’re talking about how to use stun guns safely and properly-stun gun tips.

I’ve always maintained that knowing how something works and understanding its capabilities gives you more confidence in using it. And when it comes to defending yourself having confidence is extremely important.

A stun weapon is a small device that will fit into your hand very easily with two or more prongs on one end that conducts an electrical charge that is powered by batteries. Once activated, the stun device creates electrical arcs that flash between the probes on the end. The flashing arcs make an intimidating noise. So between the sight and sounds of the arcs, some assailants are scared away by that. That’s okay. Whatever works!

Once applied to an assailant the electrical charge makes the body work very hard very rapidly. This rapid work cycle depletes all the bodies’ blood sugars that are needed for energy so he has no energy left. The effects are not long-lasting. You can disable an assailant for up to 10 minutes giving you time to get away from a dangerous situation.

Here are some tips on how to use a stun gun properly and safely.

1. Make sure that stun devices are legal where you live. They are illegal in several states and cities, so check with your law enforcement office first

2. Study the brochure that came with the stun gun. Read the directions carefully.

3. Remember that the stun device is a weapon and misuse can be grounds for criminal charges.

4. Every stun device has a safety switch to prevent accidental discharge. Practice getting used to switching it on off.

5. Every stun device also has an on/off switch. Know where it is and practice using it.

6. The very first time that you fire a Stun Device stun device you’ll hear the loud noise and see the flashing arcs on the end. Make sure that you are used to hearing and seeing those sounds. If not, when the time comes for you to use it that sound may scare the heck out you.

7. A stun device must be applied to an assailants’ body. There are six optimal points on the body. The most sensitive nerve centers are upper hips, upper shoulders and below the rib cage.

8. A 3 to 5 second application will disable an assailant for up to 10 minutes.

9. Check your batteries frequently to make sure that they are fully charged.

Follow these tips to get the most out of your stun gun. Who knows it may be in a position to save your life one day.
