Sabre Runner Pepper Spray- A Runner’s Best Friend

click for more info

Believe it or not walkers and runners are very susceptible to assaults. Think about it. They usually run in relatively remote areas away from congestion and other people and a lot of runners that I know run at what I consider to be weird times-early a.m. or dusk or later.

There are a lot of products on the market that are designed to help protect them in an assault situation but one of the newest is by Sabre brand called the Runner Spray.

It is a 3/4 ounce container of 10% solution of oleoresin capsicum. It fires a ballistic stream up to 10 feet away and has enough for approximately 35 shots. The ballistic stream is so powerful that it helps reduce wind blow-back. It has a reinforced safety switch that prevents accidental discharge and includes a comfortable and adjustable hand strap. It is available in both pink and black.

It is also very effective against dog attacks.

Sabre brand is noted for its’ increased percentage of Major Capsaicinoids (MC). Many police agencies use a .18% of MC. Saber red is .67% so it is about four times stronger. Can you say OUCH?

Best Bear Spray Technique-Safety Tip Of The Week

Click for more details

As promised last week here are some tips on the proper use of bear spray.

Bear spray has to have a minimum of approximately 9 ounces its’ canister to be considered a bear spray. The reason for that is simple-a 4 ounce canister of normal spray will not work you need a lot of spray. And it should have a very good range. Most pepper sprays have a range of up to 12 sometimes even 18 feet. Bear sprays have a range of 20 and one even 35 feet.

Believe it or not bears are not normally aggressive. They do get aggressive after they come out of hibernation in the spring and before they can go into hibernation in the fall-so specifically when they’re looking for food.

If you do see a bear in the back country or anywhere for that matter don’t try and run away from it. Despite their lumbering appearance bears can move very quickly. At the first sight of a bear grab your bear spray from your backpack or holster. Always make sure it’s handy especially in the back country.

Bears like a lot of animals have a very sensitive nose and that is why bear pepper spray is so effective.

The basic idea here is to create a wall of mist of the spray between you and the bear. So at the first sight of a bear, spray in a circular motion aiming at the bear. You want the bear to walk into the wall of mist that you’ve created with the bear spray. When he smells that mist he will retreat. A bear can cover a distance of 30 feet in the blink of an eye.

Always make sure you have bear spray with you. We carry two brands. They both do exactly the same thing but have slightly different capabilities

Guard Alaska can spray up to 15 to 20 feet away and Mace Brand bear spray can spray up to 35 feet away.

Bears Are Coming And They Are Hungry-Safety Tip Of The Week

Click for more details

It is almost that time of year when bears are finished hibernating. In another couple weeks when that happens they will come out of their winter habitat and boy oh boy are they hungry! Two times a year they get exceptionally aggressive; early spring as they come out of their hibernation, and early fall when they start their hibernation.

At these two times of year bears are looking for food. And when bears are looking for food you best not get in their way. Bears can smell food from great distances. So homeowners should take precautions and make sure that their trash is covered and if a grill is used outside that equipment is well protected because bears will go to any lengths to get at food when they’re hungry. They have been known to break in screen doors to get into homes.

That is why it’s a good idea for you to keep some bear spray around your house. We carry two brands. They both do exactly the same thing but have slightly different capabilities

Guard Alaska can spray up to 15 to 20 feet away and Mace Brand bear spray can spray up to 35 feet away.

And next week’s safety tip we will cover the proper way to use bear spray. Like anything else there is a good technique to get maximum effectiveness. We will share that next week!

Most Popular Stun Guns-#3 of 4

This is a review of four of the most popular stun guns. We’ll compare and contrast them so you can tell the differences. They are slightly different styles.

Number three on the list is the Expandable Stun Baton that’s also rechargeable and is 1,000,000 volts. It has a flashlight and a 130 dB alarm so it offers three levels of protection. It is an extremely popular product to carry in your car. When it’s closed it is 12.5 inches long and at the touch of a button it extends to 21.25 inches. When it’s extended it electrifies to 1,000,000 volts. It includes a nylon holster with belt loop and has a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. Many of our customers use this for dog attack defense. When it is activated the fling sparks make a very intimidating sound and sight-enough to scare an assailant or dog away.

Feedback on these posts is welcomed. Have you ever used an expandable or telescopic stun baton? They are effective against 2 and four legged dogs. Please share your experience. We want to hear your thoughts.

Self Defense: Dog Attacks And Dog Bites-How To Protect Yourself

Millions and millions of Americans own pets. It’s hard to say at any one time how many dog owners versus cat owners there are but it’s in the millions. Most dog owners are conscientious about their dogs and obey leash laws that are in practically every city in the country. But there are some dog owners who are irresponsible, who don’t obey the law and as a result their dogs are loose and run the risk of starting or joining a pack which is even more dangerous. It’s these dogs that form a threat-and a formidable threat at that.

Dogs are by nature vicious animals. You only have to look no further than SWAT teams in every city or military police units. They all have canine components. These are dogs that are professionally trained to attack. Those are not the dogs that we’re talking about here. We are talking about dog attacks and dog bites that happen as a result of dogs that belong to our fellow citizens and run around loose.

Close to six million Americans get bitten by dogs every year. Nearly 20% of those require hospitalization. Those are just the reported figures. There are many more that are unreported. For those Americans who love to walk, jog or cycle dog attacks are constant threats. So it’s worth your time to learn some self-defense when it comes to dog attack defense.

Use some common sense when you’re approaching strange dogs. They are very territorial, so give them some space. Don’t try to pet a dog while he is eating. Never run away from a strange dog. If a dog starts growling at you, he’s trying to tell you to back away-so back away.

If you feel a dog attack is imminent, there are some personal protection products you can use. Here are three of the best for your self-defense.

The first is the Mace pepper gun. It uses a full strength 10% solution of pepper spray as opposed to the two percent solution for ordinary dog pepper sprays. The main advantage of this product is that it can shoot up to 25 feet away and has enough OC for multiple shots at that range.

Another successful personal protection product is the telescopic stun baton, but this requires an application to the animal from as little as 2 feet away and for that reason it is really used as a last resort. But the stun voltage is 800,000 volts-enough to get any dog to leave you alone. Sometimes the sound of a charging stun gun is enough to get the dogs’ attention. It’s a scary, crackling sound.

One of the most successful products is the Ultrasonic Dog Repeller that is effective up to 40 feet away with an ultrasonic sound that only dogs can hear.

If you feel a dog attack is imminent and fear a dog bite those are three personal protection products you can use to protect yourself for your self defense.

The Ultrasonic Dog Repeller is great for chasing dogs away from up to 40 feet and is highly effective.

Bear Sightings Up Nationwide-Steps You Can Take To Protect Yourself And Your Family

Maybe you saw the story on the news last week that bear sightings were up nationwide. You can read the whole story RIGHT HERE in case you missed it.

The story was very interesting in itself on a lot of different levels but basically it talked about how bears are becoming much more comfortable going into neighborhoods because people have been feeding them, so their fear level is greatly diminished.

Bears are normally not aggressive except when they’re looking for food. Then they can be extremely aggressive and are very dangerous. And despite the fact that they look like they’re lumbering oafs they can move very quickly and have razor sharp claws that can rip you apart in seconds. A small bear is still 300 to 400 pounds-big enough to break into your house if it smells food.

They stock up on food before and after hibernation. Springtime and fall are the two times a year that bears are looking for food. Here are some steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.

If you love to cook out the smells from the grill can attract a bear from miles away. Put your grill in a secured area like a garage after you are done cooking.

If you feed your pets outdoors, don’t leave the food out there after they’re done eating.

If your trash is outdoors put it in a secured container.

Have a canister of Guard Alaska Bear Spray around your house in case of bear encroaches into your property or, heaven forbid, it gets in your house. It has a range of 15-20 feet.

If you travel into the back country for walking, hiking, cycling or jogging whatever you do carry some Mace Bear Pepper Spray with you. It has a range of 35 feet.

Follow these tips and you will not be a victim of bear attack and you and your family it will be much safer.

Dog Attack Defense Tools-Dog Repellers Are Some Of The Best

Dog bites happen to over 5 million Americans every year with nearly one million of our fellow citizens requiring hospitalization. Most of the attacks from dog and the dog bites happen when folks are out minding their own business recreating by biking, cycling, walking or jogging.

Is it any wonder then that some of the best tools for defense against dog attacks are dog repellers. Dog repellers are products that produce a high pitched sound that only dogs can hear. The sound is inaudible to humans.

The Scram Patrol is one of the most popular. It is pistol shaped and produces a high pitched sound that can repel dog, cats, squirrels, and even coyotes. Aim the pistol at the nuisance and pull the trigger to produce a laser light that targets the animal and puts out the sound to scare them away. It can also be used as a training tool.

Best Defense Against Dog Attacks

For the millions of Americans who have been bitten and/or attacked by dogs you know all too well the feeling when you see a dog running around loose charging at you. It sends chills up and down your spine; at least it does for me. Several years ago I got 87 stitches in my right arm from a dog attack. To this day whenever I see a dog running around loose I get very nervous.

As a result of that incident and hundreds of thousands of other incidents that happen every year to innocent victims, I have no sympathy for dogs that are unleashed. For those of us who like to walk, jog or ride our bicycles every day for exercise, we should learn some evasive techniques and use common sense when we see dogs.

Never approach a dog when it is eating or drinking.

Dogs are very territorial. So if you see one that is fenced in don’t approach it.

Never run away from a dog. Back away slowly.

The sound is inaudible to humans. Customers report fair success with these products. On an aggressive dog like a pit bull or Doberman it doesn’t seem to have any affect.

For over a year I carried the telescopic stun baton and actually had to use it once. Customers report good success with this product. It is a 13 inch long telescoping baton that extends to 21 1/2 inches at the press of a button. The 8 1/2 inch extension electrifies to 800,000 volts once the product is activated. When the stun baton is powered up it emits electrical arcs and a crackling sound that can be quite intimidating both for humans and for dogs.

When it comes to choosing a self-defense product for dog attack defense and defense against dog attacks and dog bites there is one product that stands out as being the best. It is the Mace Pepper Gun.

This gun shaped product shoots out a full strength 10% solution of oleoresin capsicum, the main ingredient in all pepper sprays. It shoots a spray up to 25 feet away by using a unique delivery system that’s comprised of replaceable cartridges that hold seven 25 foot shots of spray. It comes with a water cartridge that can be used for practicing so you can get used to the 25 foot range. It has the longest range of any self-defense product.

The Mace Pepper Gun is the best defense against DOG ATTACKS and human assaults too.

Dog Attack And Dog Bite Defense-Top Three Ways To Protect Yourself

Tens of millions of Americans every day walk, jog and ride their bicycles as a means of exercise in the great outdoors. It not only is a prime way of reducing blood pressure and losing weight but it’s just a great way to get some fresh air and clear your head. More people are doing this with a friend but most do it by themselves or sometimes take their pet dog. No matter how they do it, it gets done.

For some reason dog attack prevention and dog bite defense are two of the hottest topics we have seen in the last six years. Maybe it’s because over 5 million Americans get attacked by dogs annually and those are just the reported cases. Of those attacked nearly 1,000,000 get hospitalized with dog bites.

Irresponsible pet owners who allow their dogs to roam freely and start or join packs of dogs don’t deserve any consideration in my opinion. The hairs on the back of my neck still bristle every time a strange dog approaches me when I’m out walking, which is daily. Several bad experiences and 87 stitches in my right arm that causes my heightened anxiety.

There are three great tools that can be used in a defense against dog attacks. You should have at least one of them with you when you go out to walk, jog or ride

The first is the electronic dog chaser that works up to 40 feet away. It uses an uncomfortable ultrasonic high-frequency sound that is audible to dogs, cats, coyotes and wolves, but not to humans. It helps stop the approach of unwanted dogs using the high-frequency sound and a super bright strobe LED light. Got pesky cats in your backyard? This may be the answer to getting rid of them.

The best dog attack prevention tool is the Mace Pepper Gun that shoots a full strength 10% solution of pepper spray up to 25 feet away. It is the longest range self defense product in the world. It is great against multiple attackers because it has up to seven 25 foot shots in its replaceable cartridge. The length of the shot-25 feet-and the strength of the OC solution-10%-is what makes this is such an effective tool against dog bites and dog attacks.

Third is the Scram Patrol, which not only repels cats, dogs, squirrels, coyotes, wolves and other nuisance animals with a high-pitched sound that is discomforting to the animals but not to humans. This device can also be used as a training tool for dogs. It has a laser, which helps in targeting the unwanted animal.

Those are three of the most effective tools to repel dogs.

The Scram Patrol with laser is an effective dog attack and dog bite prevention tool too.
